From the picture above the transitional effect is created by the way the gray trim separate the warm white wall color from the white ceiling and the dark tone hardwood flooring.
Dark grey walls white trim wood floors.
I think people tend to think of wood as a neutral.
But sometimes doing 1 dark gray accent wall paired with whites on the other walls can really work.
Use the whites i suggested above.
This combination can also give a clean and open look but it s important to know which shades to stick with.
This function also builds up the traditional look in the same space.
If you have dark wood floors and trim and you paint your walls a dark brown or a dark green you have the same dark shade of color from floor to ceiling.
Avoid the jolt of pure white.
You just need to find the right undertone pending on the color of the floor.
Another big problem that i see is that people do not think of their wood trim and flooring as a shade of color.
Instead stick with cool and pure whites.
Similar to light toned flooring white wall paint colors easily match with grey wood look flooring.
Having walls with yellow undertones such as cream should be avoided.
In general i m not a fan of gray on gray as it s too monochromatic when paired with gray floors.
